Guided Meditation: Finding Moments of Ease Amidst November’s Swirl

Navigating Election Uncertainty, Holiday Stress, and Challenging Family Dynamics with Inner Wisdom

As the calendar flips to November, many of us begin to feel the swirl of expectations and “shoulds” that come along with the holidays—especially for those of us navigating complicated family dynamics. Layer on top of that the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming U.S. election, and it would be understandable if you were feeling a bit overwhelmed or stressed.

In times like these, our brains can bring up all sorts of thoughts and concerns. And while no myth of perfection (our brains may continue to offer thoughts), it is possible to carve out moments of ease amidst the chaos. These little pockets of calm are often just what we need to sustain ourselves through life’s challenges.

Guided Meditation for Stress Relief and Emotional Well-Being

Earlier this week, some of us gathered for Inner Wisdom Wednesday and I led a guided meditation that I thought I’d share it with you here. I hope it might bring you a moment of calm, too.

A Simple Exercise to Connect with Your Inner Wisdom

If you prefer a written exercise, here’s a simple practice you can try:

Inner Wisdom Exercise

  1. CONNECT
Begin by tapping into your heart’s wisdom, your gut instincts, or whatever way of knowing feels most aligned with you.
  2. ENGAGE
Reflect on your intentions or what drew you to this moment.
Ask your inner wisdom: “What would you like me to know right now?”
  3. LISTEN
Notice any insights that arise, and perhaps jot them down.
  4. REFLECT BACK
Gently reflect back what you heard (from you to you), and check in to see if you’ve captured it. Ask if there’s anything else to add or adjust
  5. APPRECIATION
Take a moment to thank your inner wisdom for sharing with you.

Embracing Moments of Calm on Your Remothering Journey

I hope these practices bring you a few moments of ease and connection during these complex times. Even when the world feels loud and our minds are busy, your inner wisdom is always there. It isn’t always easy to hear, but when you’re able to tune in—even briefly—it can be a profound source of calm and clarity.

Remember, you’re not alone on this journey. The remothering community is here to support you as you navigate the challenges and joys of reconnecting with yourself. We may each have to walk our own journeys, but we don’t have to do it alone.
